About a month ago, I completed some #historical #research and traced the #lineage of my school and #sensei back all the way to #Ankō #Itosu (1831-1915). Today’s session for the #30daysofkarate is an homage to #ChokiMotobu (1870-1944). Among his writings is this nugget, “the #blocking hand must be able to become the #attacking hand in an instant. Blocking with one hand and then countering with the other is not true #bujutsu.” So today my #practice is to block and then immediately counter strike with the same hand. #karate #budo #bushido #history #strength #meditation #honormyhistory @erickastengren @mish.mash.do @jeremylesniak @jay_the_sensational @karateculture @ando_mierzwa
